The importance of VTA adjustment!

Some terminologies and explanations: - Vertical Track Angle (VTA for short) Refers to the angle in which the tonearm and stylus meet the record being played, when observed from the side. - Rake angle (complement information). It is defined in machining as the angle of the cutting face relative to the work piece, used to maximize the effectiveness of cutting. Usually at the angle of 92 deg’s +/- 1 for record players. - Stylus Rack Angle (SRA for short), It is the angle of the stylus related to that of the cutting head tool (Rake angle) used to make the original record player. Stylus, is that tiny tip, commonly known as needle, that makes contact with the record being played. Meaning, reading the grooves. Grooves that had originally been cut by a lathe’s cutter tool. The importance of VTA adjustment! It is crucial to get the angle of the stylus contact edge to be at the same angle the lathe's cutter head was at when the record was cut, to keep distortions to an absolute minimum. Practically speaking, it is a lot easier to see the tonearm’s angle than seeing the stylus tip. So, the VTA of the tonearm is the method of getting close to SRA. Therefore, our Easy VTA lifting device provides an easy and rapid way of adjusting both (VTA & SRA, as one impacts the other), by small and precise increments of a micrometre. It can even be adjusted while the record is still playing (on the Fly) making it a lot easier to find that “Sweet spot”.
